It can be a good idea to create a sort of “soccer fund” that your soccer team can use when needs arise. The following story is a good example of an unexpected reason to have a soccer fund available.
When I played for a select team in my early teenage years we would occasionally travel around the state to play in a number of tournaments. Some we expected to do well in while there were some we did not expect to do so well. But we would play them all just for the experience and because we knew that competing would only make us a better team. In one particular tournament, we expected to only make it through the first round, but somehow we managed to keep winning and advancing in the tournament.
The problem was that we had only budgeted for one nights stay and we ended up spending three nights there. Had we not had our soccer fund, some players may have had to go home and we would have had to forfeit the subsequent games.
This is just one of many reasons to have a soccer fund and filling that fund can be easier that you think with a soccer fund raising program.
