An example that has really taken hold for educational elementary school fundraisers is our Smencils program. Because the pencils are made from recycled newspaper instead of wood, it is a natural fit to make them a part of a lesson on the benefits of recycling and to show just what kinds of products can be produced as a result of those efforts. Plus they’re just a really fun item that kids get excited about and as any teacher can tell you, the more excited you can get students about something, the more likely they are to want to learn more about it.
