While Girl Scout cookies are an extremely popular club fundraiser, no one is touting them as a healthy option. And with more and more groups moving away from fatty fundraiser products, it makes a lot of sense to check out some new Girl Scout fundraiser ideas.

There is no denying the fact that our nation is getting bigger. Not bigger by population (although that is true as well), but bigger in our waist lines. For this reason dieting, exercise, and paying attention what we eat is becoming more and more important to more and more people. Nearly all aspects of society are being affected by this and the world famous Girl Scout cookie sale is not immune.

In 2009, for the first time ever, the Girl Scouts sold fewer cookies than they did the year before. Now a percentage of that is probably attributable to the slacking economy but a much bigger segment was because people are trying to watch what they eat and, let’s face it, Girl Scout cookies aren’t exactly health food.

So with sales slacking and people trending away from buying cookies, many troops are beginning to look for a new Girl Scout fundraiser. This doesn’t mean that the Girls Scouts are going to ditch their world famous cookie sales in favor of some other program. But what it does mean is that the Girl Scouts are realizing that there is a need for some kind of alternative Girl Scout fundraiser.

And with that, the search has begun for new club fundraisers that meet the ideals of the Girl Scouts. These programs need to be fun and profitable, but they also need to make sense as a supplemental program. If they have a broader message or an educational aspect, those are just extra benefits that are much appreciated.

Eco friendly programs like our flower fundraiser and our coffee and tea fundraiser are extremely popular Girl Scouts fundraising programs. They promote a much healthier image than selling cookies and offer a much greater profit margin that goes back to your troop than the cookies ever could.

But we understand that Girl Scout cookies are perhaps the most iconic of all fund raising programs and so we are not necessarily recommending you not sell them at all. Instead, what we have found works best is to use one of our healthier fund raisers and offer it as an alternative to people. It’s a great way to reign in customers who may not buy cookies but would love to buy some beautiful flower bulbs.

Girl Scout cookies are one of the most beloved and anticipated fundraising events in America every single year. But cookies aren't right for everyone and it just makes sense for the Girl Scouts, a group dedicated to raising responsible women, to have some kind of smart fundraising alternative.

It is no secret that Girl Scout cookies are not exactly healthy. It is also not a secret that America is facing an epidemic when it comes to obesity with nearly 2/3 of Americans being considered at least overweight. And, while Girl Scout cookies are still incredibly popular, 2009 marked the first time ever that overall sales were down. This reflects both a bad economy and a population that is becoming more and more conscious of what they are putting in their bodies.

So what is a Girl Scout troop to do when they need to raise money if a cookie sale no longer sounds like such a great idea? Well, Go Green Fundraising is excited to offer a number of Girl Scouts fundraising ideasthat are healthy for both your customers and the planet.

Our most popular Girl Scout fundraising idea is our Smencils fundraiser. This programs has the troop members sell pencils made from recycled newspapers that have been infused with fun smells. The great thing about Smencils for a girl scout fundraising idea is that there is only a one case minimum. And, with such a fun product, you are bound to sell out quickly.

Another very popular Girl Scount fundraiser idea is our Flower Bulb fundraiser. Your Girl Scouts can sell flower bulb and seeds as a way to raise money. If you think it’s easy to get people to buy cookies from a Girl Scout, just wait and see how easy it is for a Scout to sell beautiful flowers.

The great thing about all of our fundraisers is that they don’t necessarily have to replace your Girl Scout cookie sale. They are desigined so that they can be used in conjunction to help you raise even more money.

If you have any questions about our earth friendly fundraising ideas or would like to get started today, please do not hesitate to call us at 877-448-9746. We are happy to help you in any way possible.
