Searching the internet for fundraising ideas for a school art class? You’re not alone. School budgets are being cut all over the place and one of the first things to go is usually art class followed by physical education. Even though studies show these are two of the most important things that a student can exposed to, they always seem to be the first classes on the chopping block.
One really common idea for art class fundraisers is to have an art show at the school. You can do it during school hours or, if you can get permission from the school, do it in the evenings. An evening art show usually works much better because it allows parents to come and look at the artwork and potentially buy the items.
When I was in school, we had a yearly art sales to raise money for my art classes all through junior high and high school. They usually did fairly well but we never seemed to meet our goals. That left us with a choice – either just do without some of the things we wanted to have for the class or look for ways to make up the difference.
We’ve got some great ideas for fund raisers that you can do to either make up the gap or just replace the art show altogether. It’s a great fundraising idea for a school art class because 1.) art class students need pencils and are going to buy them anyway so they may as well raise some money for the class in the process and 2.) everyone else in the school needs pencils as well so the market is huge.
