How to Create a Fundraising Poster

Promoting your fundraiser is absolutely critical to the success of your program. If no one knows you are raising money, no one is going to contribute anything. So it’s imperative that you get the message out that you are fund raising and that you need help. One of the best ways to do that is to create a poster with basic information about your group and the reason you are raising money. To help you out, we have put together a couple of tips on how to create a fundraising poster.

Before you ever start designing your fundraising poster, you need to firm up the details of your sale and answer some questions. You want to know what products you will be selling, when you will be selling them, and the reason you are selling them. These are the very basic information requirements to put together an effective fundraising poster.

The whole purpose of the poster is to inform and that can mean for your customers or your sellers and ideally both. So you want all of the information to be clear and for it to cause people to want to help out. If you are raising money for something like a playground, put a picture of what it will look like on the poster. Even if you are just doing the yearly elementary school fundraising program, put a picture of the school or of the students on it as that gives potential customers something tangible to think about when they are deciding whether or not to buy something.

There is other important information that, while not 100% necessary, can help and that you may want to include on the poster. One thing is contact information for the person in charge of your fundraiser in case anyone has any questions. You can also have a fundraising thermometer on the poster that get’s filled in as you go along. That one only works if you are doing one or just a handful of posters though as updating posters all over town can take some serious man power.

In the end, your fundraising poster is just about informing people about what is going on and then hopefully motivating them to contribute in whatever way they can. It doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive and you sure don’t need to pay anyone to put it together for you. Something simple that gets the message across is all you really need.
